[FINAL STRETCH] PDFs Submitted for Physical Proofs
about 3 years ago – Thu, Apr 06, 2023 at 01:45:41 PM

Greetings backers!

Just a quick one here. We submitted the PDF to our printer, and expect a physical proof of the book to arrive in the next couple weeks! In the meantime, I'll be scanning through the book for any errors and other final revisions to ensure we don't need to re-print a new edition so soon after the send-off. Either way, we have kept the budget for this project untouched (when it comes to printing and shipping - we absolutely invested everything you generously gave us right back into the book when it comes to art), so we have the funds in case a second proof is required.

All potential second proofs and canal crises aside, I expect you'll receive your books next month!

The Battle for Arctor's Vault - FINAL ART SHOWCASE!
about 3 years ago – Wed, Feb 01, 2023 at 01:17:09 PM

Hey backers!

We’re in the final stretch here, and I’m so thankful for those of you who took a look at the first version of Adventure Kit: The Battle for Arctor’s Vault! We’re in the middle of turning the book into a printable version, and making headway in our final, cohesive art pass.

Almost there!

Speaking of art, I wanted to share this backer update, containing all the art from the book so far. The final version will have more sketches throughout, since we’re “tying the room together” with Aleks’ Kostic’s brilliant pen, but so much beautiful work has been made that we wanted to make this particular backer update a showcasing of all the amazing artists we’ve had work on the book.

So please, scroll through this incredible work and enjoy!

But first, what you can expect later this month:

  • Arc System Public Playtest: Known as Ceres in early playtests, this narrative-forward storytelling system is the platform for our mass combat rules. Expect a largely updated, tested, and playable version soon!
  • Backer Surveys: Since we’re already on the road toward print versions of the book (such as expanded page elements for bleed, glue gutters, and ink density), we’re almost ready to ask you all to input your shipping addresses! We don’t want to do this too early since people are prone to move during fulfillment, but we also understand that backers need a reasonable amount of time to fill out these surveys in the first place.

Now, on to the art showcase!

Jon Pintar

Jon has been a critical mind behind the map of Enchea, and his final version of this uniquely-flavored depiction will be found in the setting information section of the book!

Tina Terranova

Tina was utterly essential in designing the characters of Enchea - a world that is literally thriving with all varieties of life.  She brought out the best in this place, and helped me push my own limits on what was possible. Even though the primary characters in this Adventure Kit were made to fit in most fantasy settings, future books surrounding Enchea will surely elaborate on an endless array of beings.

Aleksandar Kostic

When it comes to this book, no one has brought out the wretched, abhorrent potential of magic as much as Aleks Kostic. He did the beautiful cover, the map of Adrienne Pass, enemies, forces, many full-page pieces, and is working on the art pass as we speak!

Olie Boldador

Olie's work can be found throughout Absolute Tabletop books since our earliest days, and helped me conceptualize the look and feel of Enchea's Levee. Even now that there are various Levees throughout the world, each with a different look, feel, and purpose, these drawings still stand as the archetype.

Leif Wagner

Leif is not only the fantastic artist that helped me conceptualize the Crossley League and Levee Archemist archetype - he's also my cousin! The butterfly in this particular Leaguer is an homage to my Grandma Dodie.

There are many more pieces by these and other artists that were used as inspiration during the creation process, and will perhaps find purchase in a future tome on the world of Enchea, should there be a desire for such a book!

For now, enjoy these pieces, support these artists, and stay tuned for the final phase of fulfillment for Adventure Kit: The Battle for Arctor's Vault!
